Bombers looking to be Premiers again

The Midtown Bombers are looking to again be the most successful AARFL team on record by securing their third Premiership title this Saturday at Dekalb Memorial Park. In this the 5th year of local competition in Atlanta the Roswell Rebels are the only other team to have won the cup with two wins just like the Bombers. Midtown this season though have hardly set a foot wrong winning all 5 games, many by large margins.

Their opponents this week still have chance to upset the Premiership favorites even if its a slim chance. The Druid Hills Highlanders came within reach of the Bombers last time they met however to capture the title this Saturday Druid Hills will need to defeat Midtown by around 40 points. To most that would seem a task beyond them.

Lining up the teams head to head is still no easy task.

No surprises as Midtown roll on

In perfect condtions for footy the Midtown Bombers tore apart a struggling Roswell Rebels on Saturday to make a Premiership for themselves almost a certainty. Midtown certainly have stood up to their 'favorites' tag well this year and their 130 point win on Saturday was all class.

Druid Hills will keep them honest though next week and are not done just yet.  With a nice win over Decatur who could not match their running game the Highlanders proved that next week the Bombers need not take their foot off the gas. Druid Hills will need to win by roughly 40 points to cause what would be the biggest upset in the five year history of the AARFL.

The first official women's game took place also on Saturday and a win went to the Chastain Chicks by just 3 points over the Sandy Springs Sheilas. Great also to see some new recruits also out there playing Aussie Rules for the first time. The women's games will follow up this week with Round 2 with a third game now scheduled for April 14th prior to the Kookas home game v Florida.

Midtown cruise home again

In the warmest spring morning for some time in Atlanta the Midtown Bombers again showed they are a class above the rest of the field with a comfortable win against the Decatur Devils. Apart form the second term where Decatur were able to match the rampaging Bombers the game was all Midtown seemingly at times kicking goals at will.

In the other match Roswell were unable to muster a team and therefore forfeited to Druid Hills. With the Women's game also struggling for numbers a great 12 a side co-ed scrimmage game was held under warming conditions for players who made the effort to attend.

Midtown Bombers               5.3   9.4   12.6    15.9  (99)
