Top teams set up big clash |
Monday, 05 March 2007 |

After the games on Saturday two teams now stand out head and shoulders above the others after again both having decisive wins. Druid Hills easily accounted for Decatur running out winners by 67 points and Midtown kept up their early promise by outplaying Roswell to the tune of 92 points. Last years Premiership team after two games now sits on the bottom of the ladder alongside Decatur. This sets up a big game in Round 3 when Midtown play Druid Hills on March 17th. Druid Hills Highlanders 4.1 7.3 13.7 18.9 (122) Decatur Devils 2.2 4.4 5.5 8.7 (55) Roswell Rebels 0.1 0.2 1.3 3.8 (26) Midtown Bombers 6.3 12.3 16.7 18.10 (118) Match reports are here now.

Week 2 Preview for Spring 2007 |
Thursday, 01 March 2007 |
Straight into week two this Saturday and despite two big winning margins last week this week might be a little closer, and I did say a little.. Druid Hills hit the ground running literally last week and will face the rebuilding Decatur Devils. Decatur despite losing a few players from last year which they couldn’t really afford, are hanging in there with some fresh faces but certainly a new enthusiasm. Probably new team leader Wayne Kraska will be heavily relied upon again as he appeared the only player able to finish off last week but there are rumors some other talented players may appear this week for the Devils. Druid Hills although small in numbers are big in talent and fitness as well. Mobley, Kewley & Crist alone have huge Kookaburras experience and are also three of the fittest players in the comp. With Ciagnek improving, Eckman and in the wings the talent of Lucy, Buhaj and Larossa waiting, they have the potential again to keep winning these early games. One has to lean again to Druid Hills this week to keep the winless Decatur’s record intact for the past year. |

AARFL Spring 2007 kicks off |
Monday, 26 February 2007 |
The AARFL Spring 2007 season kicked off on Saturday with a rematch of last years 'quasi' Grand Final. In the first game of the morning it was Roswell with an influx of new players showing glimpses of their 2006 form. But they were no match for the running game of the Highlanders who appeared to have started the same way they did last fall. In the other game a new look Decatur took on an impressive Midtown Bombers outfit. Althought the Devils were competitive they we no match over the four quarters for the taller and more skillful Bombers. The Bombers also sporting a few new faces are only going to get stronger as the season progresses. Druid Hills Highlanders 3.5 6.7 13.11 14.14 (98) Roswell Rebels 1.1 2.3 2.3 4.6 (30) Decatur Devils 0.1 2.4 3.5 5.5 (35) Midtown Bombers 4.5 9.9 9.16 14.20 (104) Match Reports are here , also check out photos of Saturdays games in the Photo gallery.

The spring AARFL season kicks off in what should be an interesting 6 rounds of games. The fall competition really heated up when it came down to the last game between eventual champions Roswell against the team that had set the standard all season Druid Hills. Roswell got up to win that game and the title in a game that could only be described as super competitive. So what's install for 2007 and the Spring season? Well there have been a few players moving around from team to team and from the free clinics over the past weeks there are certainly plenty of new players ready to take up the challenge. Druid Hills look to be relying on last seasons squad mainly. Marc Buhaj looks like traveling to the UK soon so he will be a loss. Pete Eckman has however transferred over from Decatur last year where he played just one game. Ross Larossa also played just one game last season before breaking his hand and he will be a handful for any team to match up on this season. These two players alone may make Druid Hills the team to beat again. |
