So its the big game this week with the two undefeated teams in Druid Hills and Roswell meeting for the first time to see who will take the undisputed top of the ladder position. With it goes the bragging rights as the best team in the competition so far this year and the most likely team to be league champions come the end of November. Druid Hills come into the game as the obvious favorites having disposed of their two previous opponents in easy fashion by 75 and 91 points. You cannot get much more impressive than that with winners all over the field like the quick and elusive Bahaj, super fit Mobley and goal sneak Rotell. Add players like Crist, Lucy, Kewley and La Rosa and you have one formidable line up in good form. Although there is some injury clouds hanging over the team they do seem a cut above the rest of the competition this year and heading for their first league Premiership.
For Roswell they will rely on experience with a touch of flair. Diamond and Frost looked good last week in the backline and Sach was everywhere and will be the most difficult for Druid Hills to contain with his speed and agility. With the likely return of veteran Kraska and the combination of Irishman O'Sullivan and Sheffield up forward the Roswell team have the makings of a tidy outfit. The question probably is will their experience negate the hard and fast running that the Druid Hills team has shown in past games? The online Poll says it will be Druid Hills but I think it will be close. The other game is also important as Midtown last years Premiers face Decatur with both teams yet to post a win. Midtown with some highly fancied recruits have been disappointing so far and will be looking to get a win on the board this week. News is Jones will definitely be back this week for Midtown. For Decatur they will be looking to regroup and use this game as chance to get back on track. If they get their best team out there they are a chance but one would have to stick with Midtown for the win. Going to be two great games this week and dont forget the women's competition also kicks off this week with their game commencing at 9.30am. See you there at Dekalb Memorial for some great footy. |
