Midtown Bombers 6.3 12.3 16.7 18.10 (118) MATCH REPORT Great weather again greeted players on Saturday morning for round 2 of the AARFL season. First game of the morning was Roswell v Midtown both bringing nice size squads to play. Roswell looking to get back on track after disappointing start the week before. Midtown however were to have different ideas and systematically went about confirming their favoritism for the Spring AARFL title. An added side note for Midtown was they were missing several of their more experienced players relying on several new recruits that are fitting in nicely. Adam Jennings in the ruck and live-wire Rasean Hodge are having a huge impact in their first few games of footy and with the reliable Ed Robinson and Curtis Jones the Bombers were again too much for their opponents to handle. Another newer player in Jeff Vach was lucky enough to be on the end of some of that great play kicking 5 goals himself for the game. For Roswell it was again Hugo Sach trying to hold back the flood gates. The first half was a blow out with Midtown leading by 73 points at the main break. Roswell in second half were able to get themselves a few touches but importantly their defenses improved and the flood subsided. Youngsters Groves and Hayden Frost are improving each week and doing well. For Midtown it was pleasant to see Heffernan back on the field. In the end a rather one sided game that as previously mentioned only further made notice that Midtown are the team to beat for the 2007 spring AARFL title. ROSWELL
Druid Hills Highlanders 4.1 7.3 13.7 18.9 (122) MATCH REPORT In the second match it was the running Druid Hills out against the rebuilding Decatur. Druid Hills brought the speedy Marc Buhaj to play which was not a good sign for the Devils. This added some more speed to their already hard running line up. Decatur's line-up saw the return of former Kookaburras vice Captain Andy Beh which helped them a lot around the field and Eric Baker was on debut having first played the game when working in Germany a few years back. The start saw Beh and Kraska sharing the ruck duties for Decatur and Andy Ciagnek probably the shortest ruckmen in the northern hemisphere having a go for Druid Hills. Decatur were able to win many of the taps but the speedy gathering of the likes of Buhaj and Kewley put paid to any advantage the Devils were hoping for. With the running of Crist & Mobley kicking in, the Highlanders soon found their momentum. Newcomer Shawn Williams took a few handy grabs up in the forward line for Decatur and booted a nice looking torpedo punt for his first goal of the game late in the first term but Druid Hills had already snuck away to an eleven point lead. The second term was pretty similar, Roswell winning plenty of the ball but Druid Hills capitalizing on any mistakes with hard running and plenty of goals. Druid Hills also seemed to have the right kicking boots on this week with their accuracy in front of goal certainly making a difference and keeping Decatur a safe distance in arrears. Pete Eckman and Alan Mobley dominated the back line but still ran forward enough to score, Crist and Buhaj cleaned up everything else from the center onwards for a pretty impressive and consistent performance in the second half. With Ciganek and Kewley chipping in for 3 goals each it isnt hard to see why Druid Hills have a very even squad of quality players. The 18.9 also showing any team is certainly going to have to kick a decent score to beat them. DRUID HILLS
